Ministry of Transport Responds to Criticism on Paphos-Polis Chrysochous Road Contract Termination

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works has responded to criticism regarding the termination of the contract for the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road. According to the announcement, the contract was terminated because the contractor submitted unjustified and excessive demands.
The Ministry states that the contractor requested ā¬36 million in compensation and a 59-month extension for a project worth approximately ā¬73 million, without any legal right. The Government states that it exhausted all negotiation possibilities and that the priority is to restart projects on sustainable terms.
The Ministry of Transport assures that no money will be granted to contractors who are not entitled to it.
