Two Churches Damaged in Limassol District β Assistance to Fire Victims

Two churches in the Limassol district have been damaged due to fires, according to statements by Archimandrite Father Philotheos of the Metropolis of Limassol. Specifically, the chapel of Agios Ioannis of Russia in the Vouni community was completely destroyed, while the church of Agios Silouanos in the Souni area was also damaged.
Father Philotheos stated that the chapel of Agios Ioannis of Russia, built in the 1990s, was completely destroyed, with the collapse of its wooden-roofed structure. The church of Agios Silouanos suffered similar damage, also being wooden-roofed, a characteristic of the churches of Troodos.
A delegation from the Metropolis of Limassol, headed by Metropolitan Athanasios of Limassol, visited the affected areas and contacted the fire victims. Metropolitan Athanasios expressed his intention to provide food to the fire victims, in cooperation with the Civil Defense.
In addition, the Holy Metropolis of Limassol has provided space at the Multifunctional Center "The Good Shepherd" to accommodate 25 people affected by the fires, providing shelter and food.
