Aimilios Cheilakis: Tempi was a crime waiting to happen

In a recent interview, actor Aimilios Cheilakis described the Tempi tragedy as a crime, not an accident.
"Syntagma Square is a place of gathering for citizens. It is a place of gathering, of memory, because it is the monument to the Unknown Soldier, so we must remember, and one of the points of memory that we must have is the victims of Tempi because they are victims. It was not an accident, it was a crime that was long in the making. That's what Tempi was," he stated.
Referring to politics, Aimilios Cheilakis stressed that it is self-referential and deals more with the problems of parties than with the problems of citizens. He also commented on the play "#CANCEL" in which he stars, saying that it deals with the difficulty of people listening to the opinions of others.
"You cannot ban satire. For me, satire is one of the most important tools of democracy," he concluded.
