AKEL: Christodoulides is in a Constant Pre-Election Campaign

AKEL responds to the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, regarding the party's criticism of the Police's stance at the demonstration for Palestine in Nicosia. The President had attributed AKEL's criticism to pre-election motives.
"It does not surprise us that Mr. Christodoulides attributes everything to pre-election motives. He himself is in a constant pre-election campaign, since his main concern is his re-election in 2028 and not the solution of the multiple problems of society and the country," AKEL states in its announcement.
AKEL also points out that the government does not respect either the citizens or the members of the Police, ordering them to strike peaceful demonstrations indiscriminately. It also refers to the legislation passed in Parliament by the parties supporting the government, arguing that it violates international and European conventions and entails risks of curtailing democratic rights.
AKEL has submitted a bill for the withdrawal of this legislation.
