Alma: Concerns About Safety After Parliament Discussion
Share on:

The Alma - Citizens for Cyprus movement has expressed concerns about citizens' safety following a parliamentary discussion on the recent fires. In their statement, they mention that questions regarding coordination responsibilities, the responsibilities of administrative departments, and civil protection institutions remain unanswered.

Alma questions the ability of those in charge to manage major crises, such as fires, earthquakes, or military crises. They also accuse those involved of attempting to disclaim responsibility and protect the President of the Republic.

The movement refers to the assignment of operational coordination to the Director-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in 2023, as well as the absence of the Head of the Presidential Administration, raising questions of responsibility for the President. In addition, they emphasize the need to support those affected and restore the environment.

Alma calls for the removal of the involved Ministers and their replacement with capable individuals, as well as the conduct of an independent investigation into responsibilities at all levels.
