Albania: Rama Considers AI Government to Combat Corruption

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is considering creating a government run by Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a means to combat corruption and accelerate the country's accession to the European Union.

Rama stated that technology could become "the most effective member of the Albanian government." He expressed the idea that developers could create an AI model to elect a minister, potentially leading to a fully automated government.

While Ben Blushi, a former politician, supports the idea, Jorida Tabaku from the opposition warns that AI cannot cure a corrupt system if the same people are programming the algorithms. She points out the need for transparency and adequate infrastructure.

Albania aims for full digitalization of transactions by 2030 and has already moved 95% of public services to the e-Albania platform.
