Cyprus Problem Solution a Priority, says Deputy Government Spokesman

The Deputy Government Spokesman, Giannis Antoniou, stated that resolving the Cyprus Problem based on the agreed framework of the United Nations is a priority. The statement was made during the presentation of Despo Konizou Loizia's book "The Giants of the Northern Suburbs" in Nicosia.
Mr. Antoniou emphasized the need to safeguard the rights of all legal residents of the Republic of Cyprus and the need to overcome Turkish intransigence to restart negotiations. At the same time, he stressed the importance of shielding the Republic of Cyprus against potential dangers, by upgrading the deterrent capability of the National Guard and strengthening the country's diplomatic footprint.
Referring to the book, Mr. Antoniou noted that it records the struggle of the 3rd Company of the 211 Infantry Battalion during the Turkish invasion of 1974, to defend Nicosia. He expressed respect and pride for those who defended the freedom and territorial integrity of Cyprus.
In conclusion, he mentioned that in a few days the Republic of Cyprus will assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
