Presidential Referral of Laws Regarding Parental Notification of Child Absence

The President of the Republic has referred back the Laws entitled "The Municipal and Secondary Education (Compulsory Attendance and Free Education Provision) (Amendment) Law of 2025" and "The Private Schools (Amendment) Law of 2025."

According to a joint announcement by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth and the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, the referral concerns the practical application of the regulation for immediate parental notification in case of preschool children's absence.

The Government agrees with the obligation of immediate notification of parents or guardians regarding the absence of children from kindergartens or infant care stations, regardless of whether the child attends a public or private institution.

The competent Ministries are working to formulate applicable solutions in view of the new school year 2025-2026, in order to ensure the correct and effective implementation of the measures, with the safety of children in mind.
