British Defence Secretary John Healey Departs from Paphos

British Defence Secretary, John Healey, departed from Paphos Airport shortly after 7:00 PM, concluding his contacts in Nicosia with the Government of the Republic of Cyprus and his visit to the British Akrotiri Base.

The British Defence Secretary departed on a private jet that was stationed in Paphos. His motorcade arrived at the airport with a strong police presence, consisting of dozens of vehicles from the Cypriot Police and the British Embassy.

The arrival of the British Defence Secretary coincided with the takeoff of two Greek F-16s from Andreas Papandreou Air Base. The Greek fighters conducted a patrol in the sea area south and east of Cyprus, for control and protection of the territory.
