Independent Social Support Agency Responds to Audit Office

The Independent Social Support Agency has responded to the Audit Office, assuring that no irregularities arose from the compliance audit. The General Accountant, Andreas Antoniades, stated that the issues raised by the Audit Office's report fall outside the scope of an auditing body.
The Management Committee expressed concern about the attempt to transform the audit into a tool for political exploitation. It is clarified that the compliance audit was conducted following a complaint and concerned the Agency's compliance with the legislative framework since 2015.
Mr. Antoniades emphasized that the report did not highlight any substantial irregularities. The Audit Office introduced issues that do not fall within the original purpose of the audit and lack auditing evidence.
The Committee noted that the Agency operates in full compliance with the legislative framework and the Constitution. The presidency of the Agency by the First Lady is institutionalized.
The Audit Office found a possible relationship of influence between donors and the Agency, proposing the establishment of a procedure for publicizing contributions. The Audit Office mentioned that some companies that made contributions had financial relationships with the state.
DISY MP Nikos Georgiou stated that the Audit Office's report confirms the need for more transparency in contributions to the Agency.
