Diagnostic Centers' Concern Over Radiologists Bill in Cyprus

The Pancyprian Association of Diagnostic Centers (ΠΑ.ΣΥ.ΔΙ.ΚΕ.) has expressed concerns regarding a bill expected to be voted on in Parliament on Thursday. The bill mandates the continuous physical presence of a radiologist during all imaging examinations.
The Association warns that this measure could limit the quality of imaging services, jeopardize the viability of diagnostic centers, and degrade the role of radiology technologists. They point out that the number of available radiologists in Cyprus is insufficient to support such a regulation.
ΠΑ.ΣΥ.ΔΙ.ΚΕ. argues that many centers rely on teleradiology and that mandatory physical presence will lead to the closure of many centers, concentrating examination production in a few providers. The Association has submitted a study to the Parliamentary Health Committee, which highlights that out of 201 registered radiologists, only 12 are potentially available and already working.
Furthermore, concerns are raised about the public statements of the President of the Radiological Society, which are considered inaccurate. The Association calls on the competent authorities to reconsider the bill.
