Supreme Court Rejects Tychikos' Request

The Supreme Court has rejected a request by the suspended Metropolitan Tychikos to register a supplementary affidavit.
The Metropolitan sought the annulment of the decision by the Holy Archbishopric of Cyprus (8.2.2026) to impose an indefinite suspension, as well as the issuance of a warrant for the provision of documents by the Holy Synod.
Furthermore, he requested the suspension of any procedure to fill the Metropolitan position in the Holy Metropolis of Paphos and a ban on sessions of the Holy Synod.
The court rejected the request, noting that the supplementary affidavit concerned events subsequent to the Holy Synod's decision, specifically the decision of the Ecumenical Patriarchate (12.03.2026), which rejected Tychikos' appeal.
The court stated that complaints regarding the Ecumenical Patriarchate's decision cannot be discussed within the framework of this procedure, which concerns the decision of the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus (08.01.2026).
