Reactions to Greece-Cyprus Interconnector: "Cyprus Must Clarify Position"

Reactions in Athens were triggered by the interview of the Minister of Finance of Cyprus, Makis Keravnos, regarding the Greece-Cyprus electricity interconnector project. Mr. Keravnos described the project as unsustainable, citing relevant studies.
The Vice President of the Greek Government, Kostis Hatzidakis, stated that the cable is integrated into the European energy plan and benefits Cyprus. Government Spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis emphasized that Greece will not bear the entire fiscal cost.
The cable project, known as the Great Seas Interconnector (GSI), has caused tension in Nicosia-Athens relations.
