Political Parties React to Philippa Karsera's Resignation from AFKS

Political parties have commented on Philippa Karsera Christodoulides' resignation from the Management Committee of the Independent Social Support Agency (AFKS). The President's wife announced her decision, citing the need to protect her own and her family's integrity, following a "relentless attack" and "spread of fake news" on social media.

AKEL believes that the resignation was self-evident but delayed, and calls for the publication of the names of the donors to the Agency and its abolition. It argues that there is a mechanism of entanglement and illegal funding at the Presidential Palace.

The Ecologists Movement emphasizes that the discussion concerns institutions and not individuals, and that the Agency must operate with transparency and accountability. It welcomes Mrs. Karsera's resignation as a development that highlights the need for institutional changes. At the same time, it expects a similar action from the director of the President's Office, Mr. Charalambos Charalambous.
