While Archbishop George reportedly wishes to de-escalate tensions surrounding the case of former Metropolitan Tychikos, new information suggests otherwise.

Initially, it was revealed that the Archbishop offered Tychikos accommodation at the Archbishopric, even offering him the living quarters of the late Archbishop Chrysostomos. Simultaneously, he allowed him to hold his mother's memorial service, under restrictions, in a remote church in Mesana.

According to REPORTER, Tychikos refused a meeting with the Archbishop, citing oppressive behavior. Tychikos' appeal to the Ecumenical Patriarchate is pending and expected to be adjudicated by August.

The Holy Synod has not handed over the evidence that led to Tychikos' deposition, as it has been sent to the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Meanwhile, the complaint of defrocked priest Dimos Serkelidis is not expected to concern the Holy Synod at this stage.
