Yiannis Yiannakis Acquitted of 5 Charges

Former Commissioner of Volunteerism, Yiannis Yiannakis, was acquitted of 5 charges related to forging documents and circulating a false letter of recommendation during today's hearing.
Mr. Yiannakis has already admitted to three of the charges he faces, which concern the circulation of forged official documents knowingly and fraudulently. Specifically, he is accused of presenting documents to the Republic of Cyprus as official documents from an American University and a Cypriot Lyceum.
Judge Nikol Grigoriou expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in the case, speaking of a 'delaying tactic' by the prosecuting authority. She set a new hearing for August 29 for Mr. Yiannakis' lawyer to argue for mitigation of the sentence.
