Teachers' Strike 12/18/2025: What Happens with Student Absences

The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth issued an announcement regarding the work stoppage of the teachers' unions POED and OELMEK on December 18, 2025.

Primary and Secondary General Education: Parents/guardians are responsible for transporting their children to kindergartens and primary schools at 9:05 a.m. and to gymnasiums and lyceums at 9:00 a.m. Morning bus routes will not operate, except for routes to Special Schools, which will operate as normal at 9:05 a.m.

For students who use buses to depart from school, routes will operate as normal.

In Secondary General Education schools, student absences will be recorded but not counted.

Community Kindergartens: Parents/guardians will be informed by the Community Kindergartens about the arrangements regarding their operation.

Secondary Technical and Vocational Education and Training: Schools will operate as normal and morning routes will operate as normal.
