Anastasios Papaligouras Passes Away

Former New Democracy minister, Anastasios Papaligouras, has passed away at the age of 78. He served as a minister in the governments of Kostas Karamanlis.
New Democracy issued a statement expressing condolences to the family of the deceased, emphasizing his contribution as a former Member of Parliament for Corinth and Minister.
Anastasios Papaligouras was born in Athens in 1948 and was the son of politician Panagis Papaligouras. He studied Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and completed postgraduate studies at Brunel University London. He served as President of ONNED in 1976-1977.
He was first elected Member of Parliament for Corinth with New Democracy in 1981 and was re-elected several times. He served as Minister of Justice (2004-2007) and Minister of Mercantile Marine, Aegean and Island Policy (2008-2009).
Anastasios Papaligouras also had a rich writing career.
He was married to Zaira Ralli and his daughter is actress Lena Papaligoura.
