The Archbishop of Cyprus has expressed concern regarding Bishop Tychikos' intention to appeal to the court regarding the election of the Metropolitan of Paphos. This development, along with the discussion on amending the Charter of the Holy Synod, will be on the agenda of tomorrow's Holy Synod session.

In his statements, Archbishop Georgios stated that appealing to civil courts is outside the practice of the Church. When asked about it, he stated that he cannot say that it bothers him, but he is concerned about how Bishop Tychikos thought of this action, given his knowledge of the sacred rules.

The Press Representative of the Archdiocese, Christakis Efstathiou, spoke of disobedience to the Holy Synod, as Bishop Tychikos disputes its decision and bypasses the admonition of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Mr. Efstathiou stated that there is no precedent for a civil court overturning a synodal decision.

According to Mr. Efstathiou, in his letter, Bishop Tychikos expresses his intention not to attend tomorrow's session of the Holy Synod.

Regarding the issue of the Monastery of Saint Avvakum, the Archbishop said that the Church has put an end to it by removing those involved.
