Athens Alitheia Forum: Marinakis on combating disinformation

The Athens Alitheia Forum has commenced, aiming to establish an institutional platform for discussing disinformation and fake news. Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and government spokesperson, Pavlos Marinakis, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in addressing this phenomenon.
Mr. Marinakis stated that combating disinformation requires cooperation, knowledge, and decisiveness, and that the Forum aims to establish itself as an annual institution for exchanging views and drawing conclusions.
At the conference, Giorgos Gerapetritis announced the launch of the Global Media Center Digital Platform by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to monitor disinformation. Nikitas Kaklamanis spoke about changes to the Parliament's regulations, while Akis Skertsos referred to measures to strengthen journalists.
Journalists such as Nikos Evangelatos, Sia Kosioni, and Nikos Hatzinikolaou also participated in the forum, highlighting the impact of algorithms and artificial intelligence on information.
