Dimitris Papadakis issued a statement following the decision of the Alma party to remove him from the ballot for the Nicosia district. Alma's decision comes in the wake of allegations by Makarios Drousiotis.

In his statement, Mr. Papadakis states that the “political divorce was imperative” as he did not enjoy “clear support” in his effort to reveal the truth regarding Mr. Drousiotis' posts. He claims that the Alma leadership was aware of his actions.

Mr. Papadakis emphasizes that he will continue to fight to protect his dignity and for a “better and fairer Cyprus.”

The Alma party also issued a statement, explaining that the decision to withdraw Mr. Papadakis' candidacy is due to the fact that it is not “politically permissible” to defend its candidate while simultaneously calling for a full investigation of the case.

The Executive Secretariat of Alma notes that it respects the presumption of innocence, but the “political shadow” created undermines confidence in the candidate.

Alma will make the final decision on the individuals to be included on the ballot for the Nicosia district no later than April 17, 2026.
