Online Appointments at Citizen Service Centers and Video Calls for Benefits
The Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nikodimos Damianou, announced on Friday the upcoming launch of online appointments at Citizen Service Centers (KEP) and Citizen Service Centers (KEPO). In addition, service will be available via video conference for issues related to social benefits and allowances.
Presenting the Ministry's budget for 2026 to the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Mr. Damianou stated that the budget amounts to €172,864,636, an increase of €5.4 million compared to 2025. He noted that this increase marks an investment in human capital and the creation of modern digital services.
According to the Deputy Minister, the Ministry focuses on digital transformation, the creation of a sustainable innovative economy, and the strengthening of cybersecurity infrastructure. He also referred to the upgrading of the government portal gov.cy, which records over 500,000 visits per month.
Furthermore, he mentioned the "Digital Citizen" application, which allows citizens to issue and maintain digital documents, and the "Digital Assistant", which has answered more than 190,000 questions from citizens.
Finally, Mr. Damianou referred to the actions to strengthen research, innovation and artificial intelligence, as well as the preventive measures taken in the field of cybersecurity in view of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2026.
