No Complaint Filed Regarding Obstruction of Research in Cypriot EEZ

The research vessel FUGRO GRAUSS is conducting surveys in the Cypriot EEZ for the laying of a fiber optic cable. Despite Turkey's claims of interference, no complaint has been filed by the company involved regarding obstruction of the research, according to the Cyprus News Agency (CYPE).
Government sources told CYPE that this is a regional project of foreign interests involving Greece, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Germany. A notice to mariners (navtex) has been issued by the competent authorities of the Republic of Cyprus, valid until August 16.
Turkey issued an Antinavtex reiterating its claims in the Eastern Mediterranean. The competent authorities of the Republic of Cyprus are in constant communication with the ship. In case of obstruction, the RoC will take all appropriate actions, including complaints to the UN and démarches at the EU level.
It is recalled that the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) of the Republic of Cyprus issued a Navtex on August 5 for the research activities of the vessel FUGRO GAUSS, valid until August 16.
