Trade unions in the occupied territories are protesting against partisan hiring in the 'public sector' ahead of the 'elections'. The president of the 'public employees' union KTAMS, Güven Bengihan, stated that almost 200 partisan hires have been made in the last 8 months, under temporary worker status.

Mr. Bengihan added that the hirings did not take place in departments where there were needs, but where the hired individuals wanted. Also, the general secretary of the Turkish Cypriot teachers' union - KTÖS, Burak Mavis, criticized the 'government' for deliberately delaying the appointment of teachers ahead of the 'presidential elections'.

The president of KL, Kudret Özersay, stated that the exams for the recruitment of new teachers were placed within the period of "pre-election" bans to pave the way for the temporary recruitment of teachers.
