Email Gate Trial: Asimakopoulou and Three Others to Stand Trial on November 24

The "email gate" case, involving former MEP Anna Michelle Asimakopoulou and three others, will be tried on November 24. The case concerns the leakage of emails of expatriate voters.
Besides Asimakopoulou, the defendants are Michalis Stavrianoudakis (former general secretary of the Ministry of Interior), Nikos Theodoropoulos (former secretary of Expatriates of ND), and Menios Koromilas (then Organizational Secretary of Local Government and Crisis Management of N.D.).
The charges relate to breach of official confidentiality and violation of the law on personal data. The case had occupied the Data Protection Authority, which had imposed fines, some of which were ratified by the Council of State.
In addition, lawsuits have been filed by expatriate voters for the leakage of their personal data.
