DIKO, EDEK, DIPA: Cooperation Failure and Challenges

The idea of cooperation between DIKO, EDEK, and DIPA in the parliamentary elections sparked reactions, leading to the failure of a joint ticket. The fear of absorption by DIKO and the rise of the far-right are significant challenges.
Panikos Leonidou of DIKO proposed cooperation with the prospect of party consolidation, but the idea did not proceed. The parties face shrinkage and difficulty in renewing their political personnel.
The big question is why someone should vote for the traditional center parties. Marios Karoyian of DIPA tried to answer this, but a strong political narrative is missing.
Curbing the far-right could be the narrative of the center, as in France. Preventing ELAM is at stake. The failure to consolidate in the current election cycle does not negate the necessity of future unification.
The autonomous descent of EDEK and DIPA is a risk, while DIKO has more leeway. A serious electoral defeat could lead to political annihilation.
