Christofidou Appointment: Reactions and Political Turmoil

The appointment of Maria Manoli Christofidou as Commissioner for Personal Data Protection has sparked reactions in the political arena. Ms. Christofidou was a member of Democratic Rally (DISY) and had expressed interest in running in the upcoming Parliamentary Elections.

DIKO MP Panikkos Leonidou stated on the show Alpha Kalimera that he was unaware of any consultation with the coalition parties regarding the appointment. He described the period as a "strange pre-election period."

AKEL MP Andreas Pasiourtidis stated that the appointment of a DISY member by the President of the Republic is not surprising, as he has repeatedly stated that he is a member of DISY.
