DISY Proposes Solutions for Rising Rents in Cyprus

DISY Spokesperson, Onoufrios Koullas, reiterated proposals to address the housing crisis, emphasizing the need for radical interventions due to the continued rise in rents.

Among the proposals are supporting KOAG for more housing, accelerating planning permits, granting rights for the construction of houses in rural areas, creating student dormitories, releasing landlocked plots, and revising local plans.

It is also proposed to provide incentives for young couples to buy, renovate, or expand homes, as well as to adjust housing grants based on inflation.

Mr. Koullas stressed the need to make housing affordable for young people again.
