National Strategy for Migrant Integration 2026-2029 Approved

The Council of Ministers approved the National Strategy for Migrant Integration 2026-2029, following a proposal by the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection, on February 4, 2026. This is the first comprehensive government policy of the Republic of Cyprus in the field of integrating legally residing migrants.
The Strategy aims to protect social cohesion and economic prosperity, both for Cypriot society and for migrants. Integration is seen as a two-way process of mutual respect and responsibility. Key prerequisites include knowledge of the Greek language, legal employment, and understanding of the institutional framework.
The main strategic objectives include socio-economic integration, increased public awareness, access to health services, and legislative alignment. Emphasis is placed on areas such as housing, health, culture, and sports. Implementation will be monitored through performance indicators and an Advisory Committee.
Well-organized integration is considered an investment in human capital, strengthening social cohesion and economic development.
