Cyprus Elections: DISY in Focus, Pamboridis Enters the Race

Political processes are intensifying ahead of the parliamentary elections. Parties are proceeding with the selection of their candidates. In Democratic Rally (DISY), the leadership will assess the interest of members in participating in the ballots next Tuesday.

In provinces where the interest does not exceed the number of available positions, the ballots will be ready immediately. However, in case of increased interest, party members will be called upon to select candidates through an internal party process on October 4.

Former Minister of Health, Giorgos Pamboridis, announced his candidacy. "I have been very concerned about whether I could, with any intervention, change the course of things in order to prevent the downward trend that is being charted in DISY...", Mr. Pamboridis stated.

AKEL is also in the process of selecting candidates, with increased interest in the Nicosia, Limassol, and Paphos provinces. ELAM seems to be in a good position, while there is concern in the center with DIKO, DIPA, and EDEK. The Ecologists are compiling their ballots, while Odysseas Michaelides' Alma, Volt, and other coalitions are in the process of preparation.
