The three teachers' organizations, POED, OELMEK, and OLTEK, have given the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, until Friday to respond to their request for an immediate meeting. The reason is the disagreement regarding the breach of agreement by the Ministry of Education on the 2025 budget and permanent positions.

The president of POED, Myria Vasiliou, stated that while there was an agreement since November 2023 to increase permanent positions, the Ministry did not fully implement it. The organizations are requesting a meeting with the President to find a solution.

In a letter, the Minister of Education, Athena Michaelidou, stated that 1,723 additional permanent positions will be included in the 2026 and 2027 budgets, distributed by education level.

The teachers' organizations have renewed their appointment for Friday and do not rule out taking measures if there is no positive development.
