National Security Council Convenes Amid Middle East Developments

President Nikos Christodoulides has convened an emergency meeting of the National Security Council this afternoon. The meeting will address the ongoing developments in the Middle East and coordinate relevant services.

Government Spokesperson, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, stated that the meeting is scheduled to begin at 17:00.

Regarding reports of missiles being launched towards Cyprus, Mr. Letymbiotis clarified that there is no indication of such an event and that authorities are closely monitoring the situation.

Earlier, British Defence Secretary, John Healey, stated that two missiles from Iran were launched in the direction of Cyprus, near British military bases, but expressed confidence that they were not targeting the bases.

Mr. Healey reiterated calls for Iran to cease its missile attacks and abandon its weapons programs.
