Emmanouil Theodorou: New Chief of the National Guard of Cyprus

Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou is reportedly the choice of the Greek Ministry of National Defence for the position of Chief of the National Guard. According to information from Cyprus and Greece, the Minister of Defence, Vasilis Palmas, is expected to propose his name to the Council of Ministers for approval.

As previously reported, Mr. Palmas was in contact with the Pentagon. The upcoming retirement of Mr. Theodorou in Greece will pave the way for him to assume his duties in Cyprus. It is noted that the name of Angelos Ilaridis, as well as Dimokritos Konstantakos, had also been discussed.

Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou is the commander of the Supreme Military Command of the Greek Islands (ΑΣΔΕΝ) and in 2014 served as commander of the Hellenic Force of Cyprus (ELDYK).
