Migration Undersecretary Updates on Limnes Projects

The Undersecretary of Migration and International Protection, Nikolas A. Ioannidis, updated the President of the Anafotia Community Council, Stavros Karagiorgis, on the progress of projects in Limnes.

Specifically, he detailed the strategic importance of the Reception Center for international protection applicants and the Pre-Departure Center (type XOKAM) being constructed with funding from the European Union.

The Undersecretary emphasized that the projects will strengthen migration policy and increase the number of departures from the Republic of Cyprus, following the start of operations of the Pre-Departure Center in 2026. He also mentioned that policing will be strengthened and the upgrading of the road network is being considered.

Mr. Ioannidis reiterated the commitment to close cooperation with local communities for the effective management of problems and the smooth progress of the projects.

The meeting is part of a series of contacts with communities neighboring the Limnes area, such as Menogeia, Kofinou, Mazotos, Alethriko, Alaminou, and Kivissili.
