Tension in Dhenia Buffer Zone: "These are the New Borders"

Serious allegations have been made by the community leader of Dhenia regarding incidents involving Turkish soldiers in the buffer zone. According to Mr. Charalambos Alexandrou, on November 4th, Turkish soldiers cut through barbed wire and entered the buffer zone with military vehicles, approaching Greek Cypriot farmers.

Reportedly, the soldiers showed the farmers a map, stating, "These are the new borders," indicating a deviation of approximately 10 km. The UN intervened and requested both sides to withdraw. According to the community leader, the UN did not keep its promise to be present during a subsequent visit by the farmers.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been informed and is taking steps towards the peacekeeping force to restore farmers' access to their land.
