The Parliamentary Education Committee has appealed to the Educational Service Committee regarding the transfers of teachers, mainly mothers, from areas such as Paralimni and Sotira to Paphos and Polis Chrysochous. The Chairman of the Committee, Pavlos Mylonas, described the situation as "inhumane" and "harsh," especially for mothers undergoing contract-based appointments.

Mr. Mylonas stressed the need for OELMEK to assist, so that older teachers can offer their services in these schools through exchanges, in order to facilitate the mothers. He pointed out that the problem is mainly located in Paphos, where there is not a sufficient number of teachers to cover the needs of primary schools.

Mr. Mylonas suggested that the Educational Service Committee should send teachers from Limassol, which is geographically close to Paphos, instead of transferring mothers from Paralimni, Sotira, or Nicosia. He referred to small numbers, 10-15 people, for whom the transfer creates serious family problems.
