In addition, the special allowance for professors at the University of Cyprus was discussed. The Chairman of the Committee, Pavlos Mylonas, raised questions regarding the payment of allowances to 22 academics who were vindicated by the Supreme Constitutional Court.
The Vice-Rector of the University of Cyprus, Ioannis Yapintzakis, stated that the University has started the procedures for the position of internal auditor and that the cost of maintaining the buildings amounts to €4.5-5 million.
Angelos Efstathiou, a representative of the academics, expressed surprise at the proposal to pay the allowance only for 2025 and 2026.
