61st Anniversary Celebration of the 31st Commando Squadron

An anniversary event celebrating the 61st anniversary of the founding of the 31st Commando Squadron took place on Friday at the Solea High School in Evrychou, in the presence of the Minister of Defence, Vasilis Palmas.

Mr. Palmas praised the Unit's long-standing contribution to the defence and security of the homeland, highlighting the heroism and self-sacrifice of the commandos. He stressed the importance of military readiness and historical memory, while paying tribute to the fallen.

The Minister referred to the historical course of the 31st Commando Squadron, which was founded in 1964 and had a decisive presence in all national struggles, especially during the Turkish invasion of 1974. He also noted the Squadron's participation in the coup.

Today, the National Guard has taken on a new, upgraded role, with the Ministry of Defence making every effort to modernize it.
