The Parliamentary Committee on Education and Culture has accepted the President's referral regarding the law on mandatory notification of parents in case of their children's absence from school. The decision was made at an emergency session, in the presence of the Minister of Labor, Yiannis Panagiotou, and the General Director of the Ministry of Education, Giorgos Pantelis.

The referral concerned the implementation process of the regulation, which had been deemed practically unfeasible. The Chairman of the Education Committee, Pavlos Mylonas, stated that the Committee accepts the referral and that the decree of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare will be implemented with a modification.

The Minister of Labor, Yiannis Panagiotou, expressed the Government's satisfaction with the acceptance of the referral. The AKEL MP, Andreas Kaukalias, mentioned that a decree has been issued by the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, which they had been waiting for months.

The DI.PA-Cooperation of Democratic Forces MP, Alecos Tryfonides, stated that the Parliament and the Government agreed that informing parents in case of a child's absence from school is imperative.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education is considering purchasing telephones for school administrations, in order to directly inform parents. The eΔΕΑ electronic system will also be used.
