Erdogan: Two-State Solution Only Way Forward in Cyprus

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reiterated his position on a two-state solution in Cyprus during his first meeting in Ankara with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman.
Following a Cabinet meeting, Erdoğan stated that he discussed with Erhürman "the common steps that can be taken for a just, permanent, and compatible solution to the Cyprus issue," emphasizing that there would be no compromise on the sovereign equality of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Erdoğan argued that proposals that have been tried in the past are a waste of time and reiterated that the solution lies in the coexistence of two states on the island, provided that the Greek Cypriot side demonstrates the same will.
Furthermore, he congratulated the pseudo-state on the 42nd anniversary of its illegal declaration and honored the memory of the Turkish soldiers and Turkish Cypriots who lost their lives.
