Erhürman: "Every corner of the island will be European"

Turkish Cypriot politician Tufan Erhürman pledged that if he assumes leadership of the Turkish Cypriot community, "every corner of the island will be European." This statement was made with reference to settlers and their rights in the EU.

Erhürman argued that authorities in southern Cyprus should not interfere with the Green Line Regulation or financial aid to the Turkish Cypriot community, emphasizing that all Turkish Cypriots are already EU citizens.

He noted that the issue concerns settlers and the illegal statelet, the "TRNC," which will not be accepted into the EU as a province of Turkey. He also mentioned that every corner of the island has been European territory since 2004 and that a solution to the Cyprus problem is needed to end the suspension of the acquis communautaire.

Erhürman supported the legitimization of settlers, the continuation of Turkish guarantees, and the presence of the occupying army, as well as Ankara's control over Cyprus.
