National Guard Accelerates Modernization Process

The National Guard is accelerating its modernization process, based on the policy guidelines of the Ministry of Defence, according to the Chief of the Force, Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou.

In an interview, Mr. Theodorou emphasized the focus on strengthening deterrence and operational readiness, as well as utilizing new technologies and modern weapons systems. The National Guard continuously evaluates and adapts to modern developments, providing the State with reliable options for addressing any challenge.

Mr. Theodorou also referred to the cooperation of the Republic of Cyprus with other countries, stressing that they are an essential tool for operational upgrading, exchange of know-how and interoperability. These collaborations highlight Cyprus' contribution to stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Chief of the National Guard positively assessed the contribution of these collaborations to the Cypriot defense industry, creating opportunities for local industries.
