Annual Memorial Service for Ethnarch Makarios Held in Kykkos

The annual religious memorial service for Ethnarch Makarios was held at the Kykkos Monastery, with the presence of President Christodoulides and Archbishop Georgios.
The Minister of Education, Athena Michaelidou, delivered a memorial speech, emphasizing that Archbishop Makarios was a symbol of hope and dignity for the Cypriot people.
The Minister underscored the need to continue the struggle for the liberation and reunification of Cyprus, adding that the President's efforts aim to restart negotiations on the Cyprus issue from where they left off in Crans Montana.
The Greek Cypriot side seeks a solution based on the agreed framework, the United Nations resolutions, and the European acquis. Athena Michaelidou expressed hope for cooperation from the Turkish Cypriot side and Turkey, so that there can be a prompt resumption of dialogue.
