F. Karsera Resigns from Independent Social Support Body

Filippa Karsera, wife of President Christodoulides, has resigned from her position on the Management Committee of the Independent Social Support Body (AFKS), following intense criticism on social media.
In a post, Mrs. Karsera referred to a "relentless attack" with "dissemination of false news" and "allegations of offenses" against herself and her family. She expressed her intention to take legal action for defamation.
Mrs. Karsera stressed that her decision was not due to her desire to stop helping children from poor families, but to the need to protect the integrity of herself, her husband, and her family.
The AFKS is an institutionalized social support mechanism that provides financial assistance to individuals facing difficulties, especially in cases where emergencies affect university studies.
Mrs. Karsera linked the increase in attacks to the strengthening of the AFKS budget and the provision of more scholarships in 2024 and 2025.
The AFKS Management Committee will convene urgently to be informed of her decision.
