Fidias Panayiotou Refuses to Take Down Agora App Amid Commissioner Pressure

MEP Fidias Panayiotou has stated he will not take down the Agora app, despite recommendations from the Data Protection Authority. The app is related to Direct Democracy.
Fidias Panayiotou mentioned that the Personal Data Commissioner (Maria Christofidou) is requesting the app's shutdown without explaining the issues that need improvement. He claimed she is under pressure from political parties ahead of the elections.
He maintains that the app has been approved by the European Parliament's personal data team and meets all criteria. He also stated his willingness to cooperate with the Commissioner to correct any errors.
The Data Protection Authority has requested the immediate and temporary shutdown of the "Agora" platform until the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) is completed and a positive opinion is issued. Commissioner Maria Christofidou emphasizes that compliance with the GDPR is a legal obligation.
