Y. Antoniou: "The President has no relation with Lakkotrypis"

Deputy Government Spokesman Yiannis Antoniou stated that President Christodoulides has no relation with Mr. Lakkotrypis, in an intervention on "Mesimeri kai Kati".

Referring to the President's meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman, Mr. Antoniou emphasized the President's readiness for a tripartite or pentapartite meeting, noting that "it will become clear in the course of events whether the Turkish Cypriot leader is willing to take the next step." He reiterated the government's position to continue the talks from where they left off in 2017.

Regarding the opposition's criticism, Mr. Antoniou stressed that the President called on the UN to summarize the agreements, in order to appease concerns and show Mr. Erhürman's commitment to a solution.

Regarding Videogate, Mr. Antoniou stated that they are awaiting the progress of the investigations, avoiding comments, and added that the investigation is moving on two levels: what is heard in the video and the creation of the video, as well as the motives behind it.
