G. Kefalogiannis: 112 is issued only when there is imminent danger

The Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Giannis Kefalogiannis, in an interview with ERT, emphasized the importance of prevention in the face of the climate crisis and extreme weather events.
Referring to the recent severe weather, which resulted in two fatalities, Mr. Kefalogiannis stressed the need to focus on prevention to reduce the impact.
Furthermore, he defended the use of 112, emphasizing that the messages are issued only when there is imminent danger, following a recommendation from the Risk Assessment Committee, which consists of meteorologists, hydrologists, and scientists specialized in flood phenomena.
The minister acknowledged that no society can be fully prepared for all the phenomena caused by the climate crisis.
