Attorney General Cites Speculation Regarding LNG Terminal

The Attorney General of the Republic, Giorgos Savvides, referred to speculation and inaccurate information regarding the liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal during the discussion in Parliament.
In a statement, Mr. Savvides noted that on March 28, 2024, the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) informed him that it had initiated a criminal investigation into possible offenses during the award and execution of the public contract for the Terminal project.
He pointed out that if the EPPO exercises its authority, national authorities cannot intervene. Therefore, no ex officio criminal investigation can be initiated by national authorities.
