Geopolitical Situation Discussed at EU Military Committee Meeting in Cyprus

The current geopolitical situation was discussed by the EU Military Committee (EUMC Aways Days) at a meeting held in Nicosia from April 15 to 17, 2026, within the framework of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. The work was attended by the Military Representatives of the member states, representatives of EU bodies and agencies, as well as the leadership of the National Guard (EF).
According to a statement by the General Staff of the National Guard (GEEF), "in their greetings, the Minister of Defence, the leadership of GEEF and the Chairman of the Military Committee referred to the current geopolitical situation and recent developments on a global scale, the prospect of strengthening the EU's defence capability, as well as the objectives of the Cypriot Presidency to strengthen the Union's Security and Defence policy."
During their stay in Cyprus, the Military Representatives visited EF facilities, the Observatory on Ledra Street, and the Makedonitissa Military Cemetery, where the Chairman of the Military Committee, General Seán Clancy, laid a wreath.
