Georgiadis: Investigation in Aegina Does Not Target Drivers

The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, stated that the investigation (EDE) into the lack of an ambulance driver at the Aegina Health Center does not target the drivers, but aims to investigate responsibilities for the death of a 79-year-old.
Mr. Georgiadis mentioned that he expects the conclusion of the EDE within the week and emphasized that the investigation does not aim to punish the drivers. He also stated that three drivers who had expressed interest in being hired withdrew their applications since June.
The MP of Nea Aristera (New Left), Nasos Iliopoulos, argued that with three drivers the shifts are not covered and that at least five are needed. He also raised questions regarding the days of leave owed to the drivers.
Mr. Georgiadis replied that all means of hiring ambulance drivers have been exhausted, but there is no response. In addition, he mentioned that there is an invitation for the hiring of a permanent ambulance driver for the island.
